How to Manage Fitness, Finances, and Relationships in a Healthy Way

The most common goals that are trending today are fitness, finances, and relationships. They generally make our lives brighter and more interesting. Money is essential to our survival and a healthy, fit body boosts self-esteem. Lastly, in relationships, we have a partner with whom we can go through life.

Reaching any one of these goals is commendable. However, it is important to be able to balance all three in order to live a fulfilled life. Due to the importance of fitness, finances, and relationships in our lives, we’ll be exploring some tips that can help us healthily manage them.

1. Sit Down and Plan it Out

There are usually three parts to any project, including finances, fitness, and relationships. They are assessment, planning, and execution. Assessment involves taking note of everything you have and everything you’ll need to get to your end goal.

In the planning stage, you need to map out the process and the routes that can take you from where you are to where you want to be. You can use checkpoints or objectives to split your plan into phases. Also, it is important to attach a timeframe to your checkpoints, these will let you keep track of your activities. If you have a partner, it is important to do this with them. After all, these are important decisions that will impact your lives.

The execution of your plan involves putting everything you have written down or discussed with your partner into practice. During execution, it is important to track your progress regularly and note the parts that need to be improved upon. Determination and diligence are the keys to successful execution.

2. Identify Your Triggers

We all have one or more items or events in our lives that could derail us and keep us from reaching the financial or fitness goals that we have set out. It could be the urge to shop whenever a shirt that we like is in our line of sight. It could also be the inability to resist that strawberry tart.

In situations like these, it is important to stay focused, however difficult it may be. Documenting these triggers in your daily journal can help to keep track of them. Furthermore, the triggers can be managed and substituted for healthier choices that will not keep you from your goal. For instance:

  • If you have the habit of stress-eating, you can identify your stressors and try to eliminate them. Also, you can substitute unhealthy foods for healthy ones like fruits and vegetables.
  • If you have a tendency to skip the gym when you are stressed or go stress-shopping, you might want to practice breathing techniques or meditation. These will enable you to better focus on your goals.
  • If your binge eating is a result of boredom, try to keep busy as much as possible. Learn a new skill, pick up a new hobby, or volunteer at charity organizations.

3. Communication is Key

To be able to balance fitness, finances, and relationships healthily, couples need to be able to communicate their feelings about their finances extremely well. Desires, expectations, fears, and worries should be shared and tackled together.

This, in turn, will serve to build more trust and respect, bring the couple closer and take the relationship to new heights.

4. Do Not Let Poor Financial State Affect Your Sex Life

When you are working towards financial stability, it is probably wise to accept that things may not go as planned. If this happens, it is important to not let poor finances adversely affect your relationship.

Sex is perhaps the strongest bonding experience for a couple, and if you let it slip away from you, your relationship might begin to decline.

5. We All Have Limits, Know Yours

Whether you’re in your favorite appliance store or the gym, there is a limit to how much you can spend or exercise. Identifying your limits and working around them is vital to maintaining your pace towards your goal.

Attempting the same workout routine as a professional when you are still a beginner will only result in pain and injury. The same can be said about your finances. Spending above your means is going to impede your advancement to your financial goals.

It is important to make a budget and follow a workout routine that has been tailored to your strengths. These will keep you from overspending and injuries.

Finding the perfect way to balance fitness, finances, and relationships is definitely challenging. However, if you do find it, you will have solved one of life’s many mysteries.
